Research Interests

I study how optimal life history strategies under different ecological conditions may shape obligate pollination mutualisms. Specifically, I aim to determine whether optimal host fruit retention and nursery pollinator oviposition strategies shift between contexts. To achieve my research goal I am carrying out empirical studies and developing mathematical models using the yucca-yucca moth system. In the yucca-yucca moth obligate nursery pollination mutualism adult female yucca moths actively pollinate yucca flowers and lay their eggs in the flower’s ovary, and, yucca moth larvae feed on yucca seeds.
