Past research has shown that enthusiasm for science is the same for girls and boys until a drop among females between fourth and eighth grades. Sociologists at Nebraska took a closer look at why this happens and found that gender norms, stereotypes and, interestingly, friendships may be playing a large role.
"Galapagos," a new traveling exhibition at Morrill Hall, will allow museum patrons to explores the origins, animal and plant inhabitants, and current research on the Galapagos Islands. The exhibition is open March 3 through Aug. 6.

The Center for Great Plains Studies will occasionally award a Lifetime Achievement Award to persons whose lifetime of work has greatly impacted and bettered the Great Plains. The first of these awards was given in 2017 to Paul Johnsgard.
