Research for Credit
To enroll in the following research for credit courses, please follow these steps:
1. Contact a faculty member whose research interests you and develop a research plan.
2. Fill out the research for credit form and email it to the faculty member who will be advising your research.
3. Arrange for the faculty member to sign the research form and drop it off or email it to the main office (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Once we receive your form you will receive an email with your permission code you can use to enroll for the semester.
BIOS 296 Independent Study in Biology (1-3 credits)
Prerequisites: 4 hours of biological sciences and permission.
Opportunity to participate in work in a research laboratory in order to gain insight into the philosophy and methods of original research. (Maximum of 3 hours may count toward the biological sciences major)
BIOS 498 Independent Research in Biological Sciences (1-6 credits)
Prerequisites: LIFE 120 and LIFE 121; and permission
Independent study and laboratory or field investigation of a specific problem. (Maximum of 4 hours may count toward the biological sciences major)
BIOS 499 Undergraduate Thesis (1-3 credits)
Prerequisites: Instructor Permission
Independent research leading to an thesis. (Maximum of 3 hours may count toward the biological sciences major)
BIOS 499H Honors Undergraduate Thesis (1-3 credits)
Prerequisites: Must be in the honors program and have instructor's permission
Independent research leading to an honors thesis and exam in accordance with the College of Arts and Sciences' degree with distinction procedure. (Maximum of 3 hours may count toward the biological sciences major)
