Major: Biological Sciences

As an aspiring primary care physician, Pareena, a junior Honors student majoring in biological sciences, had the opportunity to explore the healthcare system in Costa Rica. There, she found inspiration in the commitment to primary and preventative care in the developing country.

“This experience has allowed me to learn about the universal healthcare system in Costa Rica—a healthcare system designed for patient-centered care.”

Beyond the hospital walls, Pareena and her friends explored the vibrant Costa Rican culture, ziplining, surfing, and hiking their way through the beautiful country.

“I learned a common saying, pura vida, directly translated to “pure life”, that wishes people a positive outlook on their lives. Because of this trip, I hope to be someone that can spread this positivity to others in my life or put this mindset towards my future goals.”
